Another professional library resource book, this time focusing on keeping your library relevant by focusing on pop culture. The book begins by defining popular culture, then explaining why staying up-to-date on pop culture helps to keep your library relevant to today’s patrons. The chapters I found most helpful were Chapter 4: Advocacy, Marketing Public Relations and Outreach and Chapter 6: Information Technology is Everyone’s Job. In Chapter 4 the focus in on getting the information out about your library to your community through advocacy campaigns, marketing campaigns and PR campaigns. Chapter 6 focuses a lot on the various social media that is out there and how libraries can use it to connect with patrons. This book is an excellent resource for libraries wanting to stay connected or get connected with today’s techno-savvy patrons.
